This weekend, my sister and I are going on a little trip to spend some time with my best friend in the mountains of North Carolina. Have you ever seen the Appalachian mountains in person? They’re 480 million years old, and they are spectacular. Fun fact: this mountain range formed when North America was smashed up against Africa as part of the supercontinent Pangaea 300 million years ago, so the other half of this mountain range is in Morocco! Crazy, right?
My friend lives about 20 minutes outside of a popular little college town, which, in the mountains, is remote enough that there is no Internet. You read that right: there’s no Internet where I’m going. I’m going to be completely off the grid, so I probably won’t be posting anything until midweek next week. So, while I’m out reflecting on the vast majesty of time, I’m leaving you with some recommended reading! I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite beauty blogs of late – I hope you enjoy them as much as I do:
I’ve been following Kitten Cuddler, AKA Laura, for quite some time. She primarily focuses on Korean and Japanese makeup and skin care products, which interests me for obvious reasons. Laura’s posts are very detailed, her writing style is accessible, she includes lots of photos, and she has the same skin type as I do. If you’re a fan of Asian beauty products, you’ll love this blog.
Chic Profile is a recent discovery for me. I now obsessively check this blog at least three times a day – Tavia, the Bucharest based blogger behind Chic Profile, updates frequently with previews of upcoming collections from just about every makeup house in the world! If you want to know what Nars, Chanel, Shiseido, RMK, Guerlain, or just about anybody else is going to be releasing this season, Chic Profile has you covered!
Beauty Junkie (on a Budget) is another new discovery for me. Bethany is an Australian blogger with a passion for makeup, and is dedicated to showcasing affordable products and collections from Asian and Western brands. Her writing style is friendly and clever, and she covers a very broad range of makeup. If you like makeup but think you can’t afford nice things, Beauty Junkie is the blog for you.
The Scenic Route is a beauty blog by Canadian blogger, Kalyn Lord. I “met” Kalyn on Instagram, and quickly became a fan of her blog, which covers a great mix of products from American nail polish to Canadian beauty subscriptions to Korean face masks. Her nail polish swatches are fantastic, and her writing often makes me laugh out loud. If you’re interested in fun reading and learning about a broad range of makeup and nail products, check out The Scenic Route!
As for me – I’ve got lots of great reviews planned for when I return next week – Chanel, Etude House, a new makeup storage system, an insanely popular eyeshadow palette it took me nearly 2 years to finally purchase (can you guess what it is?), and more.
